Our Therapeutic Rec Day Camp is designed to serve youth ages 7-13 with special needs. This camp joins one of our traditional day camps to promote an inclusive experience while accommodating each camper’s individual needs. Campers enjoy a variety of inclusive and adaptive programs, including recreation, pool swims and field trips along with our traditional campers, as well as small group therapeutic options, including guest instructors specializing in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation and adaptive sports. Campers must possess ability to attend to personal care such as toileting, dressing, and eating and be able to follow general cues and instructions of staff. Campers who require additional 1:1 ongoing assistance with these tasks and campers with behavioral challenges may be asked to have an aide in attendance to promote a successful experience for the camper. A sack lunch and afternoon snack must be packed daily. Our camper supervision ratio is 3:1, employing college level students (or higher) within Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Intervention Specialist, Adapted PE, or other related health sciences such as PT, OT, and SLP. We’re excited to announce the addition of a new campsite to welcome more campers this year at Barrington Elementary! Options include ten-week camps at UA park shelters and nine-week camps at UA schools. Children participate in a variety of organized recreational activities, including weekly field trips, arts and crafts, games, quiet time, movies, and swimming. Our program is led by qualified staff with a counselor-to-camper ratio of approximately 12:1. Each child is required to bring a packed lunch, a water bottle or drink, and an afternoon snack each day. Please note registration is limited and operates on a first come, first served basis. A virtual waiting room opens 5-15 minutes prior to the start of registration. The registration fee, which is charged per child, includes admission to the Upper Arlington Pools during Day Camp, a camp t-shirt, and covers field trip expenses. You can pay fully for camp at time of registration. Or sign up for installment billing. By signing up for installment billing you will link a Credit card to the future installment payments that will come out March through June. You will still need to pay an initial fee as well. PLEASE NOTE: For an Installment bill transaction you will enter in your card number twice, once to link future installment payments and once to process the initial payment. If you do not process the initial payment your spot is not guaranteed in camp.
