Monday Morning Drawing

Monday Morning Drawing - 551112

Mindy provides individual guidance, discussion and demonstrations. This is not taught as a beginner class; however, beginners are welcome to join this relaxed instruction. Many of our drawings are exercises. We look to modern and abstract artists to direct creative minds. Participants register for each month and supplies and materials are on their own. A supply list is included as an attachment with your emailed receipt.

January: Random Subjects to Enhance Skills
1/6 - Drawing a Musical Instrument: Using your ability to copy from a print and shifting at least 30% of it, create a pen drawing, focusing on hatch lines and/or scribble art.
1/13 - Drawing a Pair of Shoes: Pick your favorite shoes and draw them in graphite pencil, with as much realism as possible.
1/20 SKIP DAY - Senior Center is closed
1/27 - Catch up day: Bring in the unfinished pieces to work on today.

February: Scribble Art and More
2/3 - Focus on Landscape: Using your horizon line with a foreground of a structure with hills and trees in a scribble art technique. Allow for the layering to create contrast and a ruler to allow a straight line.
2/10 - Verse to a Song: Certain songs inspire the imagination. Run with that by sketching ideas on paper and making notes. Pick out one that seems worthy of your time. Be colorful, work on pastel paper.

2/24 - Catch up day: Bring in the unfinished pieces to work on today.

March: Signs of Spring
3/3 - Snow Bunnies: Enjoy the soft textures of blender stomps, as you glide them across some pastel paper to create the bunny fur. Kneaded or pink pearl erasers are helpful in this process. Be sure to have a white colored pencil to add snow to this scene.
3/10 - Lambs: Discover the mysterious shape of the lamb through scribble art as you layer and press the density of line together into a web of wool. Prints we have, but if you want the best, pick one out on your own.
3/17 - Daffodils: Daffodils are such a great sign of spring! Please bring your daffodils if you grow them. Otherwise, prints are always there for you. Vignettes styled illustration is only on gray or white paper with colored pencil.
