Supply List for Creating with Colored Pencil with Vivian Ripley:
Colored pencils - Set of 24, minimum (The more you have, the more satisfied you"ll be with your work.)
Some Choices:
-Prismacolor (soft & thick), 24 minimum. Look for a good buy on the set of 72. At the first class, I'll talk about Prismacolor hues that I particularly like, not included the 24 set. These can be purchased individually at Dick Blick. I will also have some available at class.
-Rexel Derwent: "Artist" is soft, "Studio" is harder. 36 minimum
-Caran D'Ache Pablo: 18 minimum, 40 is better
-Faber-Castell Polychromos: 24 minimum
If you have Art Stix, bring them (optional).
You will also need:
-Graphite drawing pencil, HB or H
-Two erasers: white plastic (Pentel brand is ok) and kneaded eraser
-One colorless marker for blending - look in the marker section for a clear or colorless one.
-Drawing paper: Strathmore 400 "Drawing" (not "Sketching") is a good choice. Any good quality print paper is also excellent, such as Rives BFK, Lenox or Stonehenge. I also like toned paper (I suggest Canson brand single sheets of a medium tone). These papers can be cut into smaller pieces. I will have some Canson and unusual papers available for purchase at class.
-Drawing board - can be Masonite or something similar
If you have any questions, you may call the instructor at (614) 451-6254. If you have worked in colored pencil, we would like to see some of your work.
