FUNdamentals of Watercolor

Kevin Buckland
This is a fun and essential approach to watercolor painting for any artist, beginner thru advanced, wishing to improve their paintings. Work at your own pace and skill level. No paint along with the instructor as in traditional art classes. Each artist selects their own photographic reference to work from; a subject with meaning and specific interest to them. Positive critiques and painting demonstrations provided throughout the six week class. Kevin assists in offering encouragement while exploring composition, painting techniques, color mixing and more. Some experience is recommended, but all levels are welcome. A supply list is included within your pdf receipt emailed immediately following registration (double check your email address is correct at registration).
Supply List for FUNdamentals of Watercolor Painting with Kevin Buckland

1. Watercolor paper
I prefer 140 pound cold press in a block form. You can also use watercolor pads sizes 9 inch by 12 inch minimum to 18 inch by 24 inch. The 11 inch by 14 inch is a good size to start with. If purchasing watercolor sheets go with full sheet 22 inch by 30 inch and trim down to desired size.

2. One scrap piece of water color paper to test color mixes.

For Paint Colors I suggest Cotman or Academy tube watercolor for beginners. I do not recommend pan colors. Purchase what you can afford.

3. Cobalt Blue paint color.

4. Cadmium Red paint color.

5. Cadmium Yellow med paint color.

6. Ultramarine Blue paint color.

7. Burnt Sienna paint color.

8. Hookers Green paint color.

9. Yellow Ocher paint color.

10. Paynes Grey paint color.

11. Van Dyke Brown paint color.

12. Prussian Blue paint color.

13. Windsor Violet paint color.

Palette and Brushes:

14. At minimum to start I would suggest a half inch flat and a number 6 round. Use whatever sizes your comfortable with.

Miscellaneous:

15. Bottle of liquid frisket and old brush to apply frisket

16. Rubber cement pickup and kneaded eraser

17. Backing board that is slightly larger than your watercolor paper if you are using a rigid backing surface for your paper. If using a watercolor block you do not need.

20. X acto knife

21. Small sponge for making texture

22. Water bucket and paper towels
